Regardless of the time of year you can always hear from a relative, friend or associate that they need to go on a diet to lose weight. And the problem seems to always be with stomach fat when you notice that your clothes are too tight.
Okay, it’s time to go on a diet, but which one, how? After the emotional trauma of recognizing your excess stomach fat the next concern should be for healthy weight loss.
Healthy Weight Loss
You need to understand that, medically speaking, fat is good! Your body uses fat to:
* Protect vital body organs
* Insulates internal organs from heat and cold
* Store energy
On the other hand, too much fat is bad because:
* Being overweight is stressful to bodily organs, particularly the heart and lungs
* Being overweight is stressful to bones and joints, particularly low back, hips and knees.
The challenge is to target the “bad” or excess fat dieting and exercising.
Your first reaction might be to cut calories by reducing how much you eat, dramatically cut your sugar intake, exercise more and maybe buy a popular diet book. All these may work to some extent. But are you getting proper nutrition and can you maintain the weight loss long term?
Healthy weight loss involves a strategic plan to achieve and maintain your goals. You need to understand the factors that control your body weight; age, health, metabolism, genetics, and environment, just to name a few.
The key to any successful weight loss program is attitude. Attitude defines your mindset. No need to tell everyone, they will know soon enough. Set your mind to an intimate personal commitment to change your lifestyle for a more healthy and energized existence.
